9 months old and about 35 cm...
So I got my ball python about 2 months now and the pet store guy that I got her from told me that she is 7 months old,she was shorter when i got her and now at 9 months she is about 35 cm...I guess she wasn't fed well at the pet shop...should I worry?I feed her 1 fuzzy a week...If I want her to grow bigger faster without harming her how often should i fed her and how much?
Re: 9 months old and about 35 cm...
I would increase feedings to every 5 days. I currently feed my baby one rat fuzzie every 5 days.
Re: 9 months old and about 35 cm...
Try feeding her two fuzzies every 4-5 days. Doing this rutine for a few months will get her going quickly. Make sure you increase the prey size as she grows!!
Re: 9 months old and about 35 cm...
The best recommended prey size should be about as big as the thickest part of your snake, or 10-15% of your snakes body weight, if you are using a scale to weigh them. I would feed every 5 days until they hit 500g or about 1 year old...
Re: 9 months old and about 35 cm...
i feed my baby rat pups not fuzzies and he takes them just fine, err every 6 days
Re: 9 months old and about 35 cm...
Hatchling ball pythons are fed fuzzies right out of the egg and after a few feedings move to adult mice.
Chances are your snake could easily eat an adult mouse or two every 5-7 days.
Re: 9 months old and about 35 cm...
although she is 9 months old she is not that thick,as i said...she was not good fed and measures 35 cm in length and she is thick as a fuzzy in her thickest region.Should I worry about this data?or can I make up for the lost ground? Is she going to grow up normal if i feed her in the right way from now on?And also...when i got her,the first week she shed, perfect shed...But now She has to shed again and it doesn't happened, her colors are more dark and I think her belly is pink...but no blue eyes, and no shed,is this normal?

The first stage is the pink stage, then they get the blue eyes, then they clear up and appear darker, and finally they shed. Its a 7-9 day process for most of my snakes. They're slow shedders lol.

If she is not so thick, I would reduce the size of food, but double up on it. So, if she can't eat a rat fuzzie, I would try 2 rat pinks, or 2 hopper mice.
Your snake is a hardy animal, and if properly cared for, she should make a total turn around and grow up "normal" as you put it.
Pink belly - what are you using for heat & substrate? Better not be a heat rock.
Shedding - s/he eyes will turn blue, but right before they shed, I've noticed that the eyes appear normal again. What's the humidity at? Does it have a humid hide?
