Texas is the same state that kicks your kids our of school if you choose not to medicate them for a.d.d. I lived in Fort Hood for 5.5 years, thought that may be a good thing to add here.

You know. I checked out that video and I am frankly amazed a appalled. In a day and age when we have to worry about crack and guns and gangs how and why would the length of a kids hair be something that anyone, least of all a school or school board needs to worry about? COME ONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The whole country seems to be so involved in stupid meaningless crap while the important stuff is running us over at high speed. This is the dumbest thing I've seen in ages.

i have had many people tell me my 5 year old needs to be on medication for a.d.d. and have refused it. To me he is acting just like a 5 year old should act. I think parents like to put there kids on medicine to give them an excuse to calm there children down. My kids will never be put on medication for a.d.d. or anything like that. Kids are hyper thats how there suppose to be they have alot of energy there young.

thats messed up, how can long hair be distracting to anyone but the person with the long hair? if it was truly a distraction then everyone should have short hair not just boys.

The thing is, if there is a dress code and the parents did agree to abide by it, they are in violation of a code they knew about.

Fighting it or trying to change it may be one thing, but when you know the rules going in, well, you know the rules going in.

No sympathy if that's the case.

i give my son meds but only for when hes at school i figure when hes home i can get on him hardcore unlike a teacher so he stays in check, but at school he got to where he was hitting teachers and other kids so much that they shortened his school day to 3 hours and basicly had a 0.1 gpa (i fought this and changed his school asap). since he has been on his meds he has been getting awards for top behavior, gets selcted to go on special feild trips and has been getting a's and b's.

My list of things to worry about

1. Violent crime, especially offenses against children
2. Government trying to stomp all over my rights
3. Our shabby educational system
4. Unemployment
5. Sagging economy

Things I could care less about

1. Who smoke pot
2. Who does kinky stuff in their bedroom
3. Who's gay, who's straight and who's in the middle
4. What people look like. And that would include how long some kids hair is for gosh sakes.

This might not be your list of things to worry about and things I could care less about. It's my list. I'm sure if I thought about it for more than 10 seconds I'd come up with a lot more

Yep. Pretty lame. I think there are a lot of people out there that make mountains out of molehills these days. People are getting all worked up over nothing.
My mom used to be a para when we lived in Texas, she always felt bad for those doped up kindergarten kids.

She used the worst four letter word I know....conservative. How is a boys hair more distracting than a girls? I can think of many conservative reasons why but no real ones.


ADD and ADHD are the most ridiculous diagnoses ever created by doctors. The teachers should be prescribed a "learn how to use different teaching styles to include every child" pill. This is another conservative topic though. That kid is different so give him drugs to make him act like everyone else.
