how to remove stench from a dog
My dog was outside the other day and she rolled in something really nasty and smelly. I gave her a bath but the odor is still very strong. Is there anything I can do to get rid of or lessen the odor?

Dont you love how they always manage to find the nastiest smelliest thing outside and just cant help but play with it! One of our huskies walked underneath a cow once when it was peeing! I was so mad

When I lived at home our dogs were always getting sprayed by skunks, and we used a few of those giant cans of straight tomato juice in the bath. It always worked!

Go buy some puppy shampoo, suds them up with it, then let it sit on them for a good ten minutes or so before rinsing...that usually helps.

You can mix baking soda with peroxide and a touch of dish soap, use that to shampoo the dog, making certain not to get it in the eyes. Let it sit a few minutes and rinse, then wash with a good doggy shampoo.

Usually washing well with a sudsy dog shampoo, letting it sit for five minutes, then rinsing REALLY WELL, works wonders for dog odors. You might need to sudse the dog up 2-3 times, rinsing in between each time to get rid of a particularly stubborn odor.

The key is to rinse super well. If you use a dog shampoo, mix it half and half with water(or even 25% shampoo to 75% water) and use it that way, and you'll see a TON of sudsey bubbles, and super easy to rinse it off.

    Hope this helped.

The baking soda/peroxide/dishsoap recipe mentioned above is good. I used it to de-skunk my dog and it worked pretty well. If you google it, you can probably find the ratio's to use.

I had to hose my dog down last night when I came home from the same thing. I had to wash my hands at least 10 times before it went away. Don't know what she rolled in, but it was horrendous. It was like 2 in the morning so she got head-n-shoulders instead of dog shampoo. It seemed to work alright.
