    That "surfguy" (first comment) is a real tool without a clue. And comment #10 by Topspin shows some serious misinformation. A 12 foot burm would be lucky to be a threat to a loaf of bread, let alone a toddler or fully grown human. Irresponsible owners are not even vaguely representative of the rest of us.

    I think we need to email NJOnline and give them the REAL facts about reptile keeping and the burm problem in Florida. We don't need this nonsense floating around as fact.

    It was a 12 foot burm that killed the toddler in Florida. Constrictor snakes over 8 feet should not be handled without another person present--this is the protocol for safe handling for the giants. If you do not believe a 12 foot snake is dangerous, then I sincerely hope you never try to own one. If kept properly, they can be kept very safely, but they should always be respected for the very powerful animals that they are.
