Re: A new news story on S373
That "surfguy" (first comment) is a real tool without a clue. And comment #10 by Topspin shows some serious misinformation. A 12 foot burm would be lucky to be a threat to a loaf of bread, let alone a toddler or fully grown human. Irresponsible owners are not even vaguely representative of the rest of us.
I think we need to email NJOnline and give them the REAL facts about reptile keeping and the burm problem in Florida. We don't need this nonsense floating around as fact.

Re: A new news story on S373
It is very good to see that there are now some intelligent reader comments on the story.
Re: A new news story on S373
As soon as some of the reptile keepers started posting some better facts, the ignorant folks quickly shut up...
Wish there was an effective way to reach the millions of ignoramuses in this country...

It was a 12 foot burm that killed the toddler in Florida. Constrictor snakes over 8 feet should not be handled without another person present--this is the protocol for safe handling for the giants. If you do not believe a 12 foot snake is dangerous, then I sincerely hope you never try to own one. If kept properly, they can be kept very safely, but they should always be respected for the very powerful animals that they are.
