Do BP like to swim?
I'm fairly new with BP's and I was just wondering if they like to swim. Last night I put him in a bathroom tub to see if he'd swim around... but he just kinda chilled in the water.
My roommate on the other hand has a corn snake, and that thing was flying around in the tub like freakin Usain Bolt. Do BP just not like swimming?

Re: Do BP like to swim?
Ball pythons are terrestrial snakes. They can swim but not very well. They aren't built for swimming. So no, they don't "like" to swim.
I doubt the corn snake did either for that matter. Just sounds like it was freaking out..

Yeah it didn't seem like he was enjoying it. I knew some snakes liked to swim but I wasn't sure if BP's or corn snakes were one of them. Haha I'll pass on the information to my roommate.

Re: Do BP like to swim?
I have 1 ball python that really doesn't mind it, just kinda cruises around in the bath tubs just like when she out socializing, tho she doesn't care about anything, all my other ones want out tho.

Re: Do BP like to swim?
in my opion they don't like it, they really dont't need baths, if your husbandry is up, keep humidity on 70% during shed, and if needs are to the extrme, you can try the pillow case method. abd your room mate is not smart either, corns dont like water as well, its probely petrified and wants out, no offense but yea

Re: Do BP like to swim?
They love to swim. Don't you watch the discovery channel when they're in the plains of Africa with those HUGE lakes, and all the Ball Pythons are happily swimming around.***huge sarcastic grin on BG's face*** They love it.........NOT.;):D

Re: Do BP like to swim?
Mine are accustomed to soaks but this is in about 1" of water. Luke warm on a heating pad. I would never put my B.P. in anything deeper and a couple inches and only then once you know they get it. I have actually heard of snakes drowning in a soak although it just seems nuts to me

BG, you are one of the reasons i love this, site, please send me an autograph, lol but wow, that was perfect. the great "african plain" lakes, i did give a rescured bp, a ball once, the owner kept him on sand, with mabye a 10% humididty, and he looked so bad from shed, but that was an extreme call
