Im thinking of getting and 0.1 Caramel Albino..So if I breed My 0.1 caramel with my 1.0 normal Albino. will get Double het Caramel, albino. And if I breed them back what will I get.. I know I can get albino , caramel albino, maybe some het but what i really wanted to know, what did get and the name of when u get Caramel albino with combination of normal albino? Re: What will U get?
I still dont get it. Are u saying it will be XANTHIC ALBINO?

Re: What will U get?
no, the xanthic albino IS another name for the type of albinism associated with the caramel albinos
As far as I know, no one has done the albino x caramel albino yet, at least I haven't seen any pics of it.

Re: What will U get?
Hi,
Good question.
I think it would look exactly like a normal albino though.
Genetically it would be a double homozygous for t- and t+
Would definately be a fun project though - long term as you would be unable to tell which hatchling was which until bred to both a t- and a t+ animal, but definately fun.

Re: What will U get?
so do u think is wise for me to purchase it? Since no one have done it and since it will only look like an normal albino. The caramel around 800grams. should be ready to breed next season.

Re: What will U get?
Hi,
Well it depends - are you happy to devote 7+ years to the project before finding out for definate what the result is? :)
The main problem is, once you get the offspring from the dual hets, you will have another 3-4 years before you can begin to be sure what the gentics of the offspring are.
Here is what the genetic wizard says about the offspring from the double hets;
6.25%: Normal
6.25%: Het Albino
6.25%: Het Caramel Albino
6.25%: Het Albino, Het Caramel Albino
6.25%: Het Albino
6.25%: Albino
6.25%: Het Albino, Het Caramel Albino
6.25%: Albino, Het Caramel Albino
6.25%: Het Caramel Albino
6.25%: Het Caramel Albino, Het Albino
6.25%: Caramel Albino
6.25%: Caramel Albino, Het Albino
6.25%: Het Albino, Het Caramel Albino
6.25%: Albino, Het Caramel Albino
6.25%: Het Albino, Caramel Albino
6.25%: Albino, Caramel Albino
Now breaking that down to phenotype we get;
56.25% Normal looking 66% het albino 66% het caramel albino (don't quote me on those percentages  )
31.25% Albino
12.5% Caramel albino
Now all the caramel albinos will be poss het albinos and all the albinos will be poss het caramel albinos.
The real problem is the albinos might also be the double homozygous you are looking for.
So you would need to breed them back to 100% double hets and look at the offspring to try and work out what you had. Or one year breed them to a homozygous caramel albino and the next year to a homozygous albino.
The idea of trying to find out for sure what was what would drive me nuts. :rolleye2:
