So this is where I start!!!
    Hello all,

I am currently a biology student and looking to learn more about reptiles(snakes). I know a lot about amphibians and I am looking to venture into the world of reptiles. So hopefully I will learn some stuff on here as it looks like a really good forum.

That is about all I have to say for now and of course some newbie questions along the way lol

    Take care,

    John

Right now I am majoring in Biology/organismal/ecology and then going to get my masters in Herpetology. Really hard though at least for me but it will be worth it in the end.

I hope to learn a lot and I see I have a lot of reading ahead of me.

A question for those studying in herpetology. What exactly can you do with a major in it. I am just curious, I'm sure there's a million things out there but I just can't think of anything right now........And welcome John :D:D:D

Presumably one could go into academia - pursue a PhD and then get paid to do research and teach. Beyond that, I'm not too sure what you could do, but then, I'm not in that field, so there are probably tons of wonderful careers I'd never think of.

Thanks for the replies, I enjoy everyone's welcome. Well I plan on teaching in the future( either college professor or high school teacher) and hopefully get a PhD to research toxins(future plans) in amphibians. I could also work at a zoo or some other herp related organizations. Since I am in the process of getting a degree in just Biology, I can get into a variety of positions in related Biology fields.

The main plans right now is just getting a job.
