How much would you pay for a 8 shelf rack?
I had a rack built for me by a friend of mine. The materials cost $100 and he wants $100 for labor. So this means with flexwatt it cost me $280 for a 8 shelf rack that can fit both 16 qt and 28 qt tubs. Would you pay this for a rack of this size? Or does the labor charge seem outrageous?

Well its made out of Melamine and apparently it took around 10 hours to build, so it should be a really nice piece. Also it has the space to hold 8 large snakes or 16 baby snakes, so i guess it is a great deal for the size. Just trying to see if its unreasonable. Maybe in the future just build it myself to avoid labor costs.

$100 dollars in labor isn't really that much. How long would it have taken you to build it? How much is your labor worth? I spend about 6 or 8 hours on a rack that size and I already have the tools I need for the project and know how to use them. That's only about $12 an hour for the labor. Not a bad deal for a homemade rack, in my opinion.

Very true, see this is what i wanted to hear and now it does seem like a great deal. At first i was a little shocked that he considered this low and i can't imagine paying more for labor than materials, but i guess most stuff is like that.

Thanks for the help and reason guys, this really helps me appreciate that it is a good deal.

future thought...it shouldn't take much longer to build a larger rack, and the extra materials wouldn't be alot more. I'm planning on building a 30 tub 32 qt. rack, using plans I found online modified some to make it from 18 to 30 for only about $100 more or so.
