Weight Gain + Before & After Pics!!!!!! (DUW)
Last night I weighed my Beardie (before I let her run around my room) and she was 269g!! She used to weigh 247, so that was HUGE to me! She took a dump today so I weighed her again and she is 258, which is still shocking. She really does look a lot bigger and seems a lot healthier!! I'm really excited I helped her gain weight.
Here's her improved enclosure

Here are pics during bath time;)

See the difference???

AFTER (at 269g)

I'm completely excited!! Looks like that hopper mouse was definitely worth giving to her.
During the night it gets very cold in her enclosure, colder than the outside of the enclosure. I'm guessing it's because of the glass. Anywho, because of this, last night she spent the night in my room. My room was at 80F last night (turned the heater on) and she found a very cozy spot in a corner of my room, underneath a plant (fake). She slept on a towel of course. Well she stayed there the entire night and she seemed to really like it LOL. I really REALLY felt bad because of her cold enclosure so I couldn't resist. I didn't let her sleep on the bed because I roll a lot;) I don't want to wake up with a dead, crushed Beardie next to me:O
Here's a for fun picture (taken on Saturday, 12-5-09);)

I'm shocked with the results as well. I can't believe how big she looks. I took a vid of her running around my room tonight, but for some reason YouTube won't let me upload it, so for now I guess I can't do anything about it.. I was gonna post it up in a diff thread:(

Great job on the beardie!
Quick question.. I haven't done any research on Beardies, but how much maintenance is involved with keeping them? High, high/medium, medium/low, low? I'd love to get one some day, but the time is just not right yet.

Yeah she just gobbled the hopper down LOL. I'm glad I fed it to her, or else I wouldn't have seen this huge weight gain:D

Will do:gj: What's the ideal weight I'm looking for when I'm getting her just about the adult size weight? If that makes sense LOL..
I'll rephrase.. how many more grams does she need to gain to be the healthy adult weight?

Thanks!!
Their maintenance is medium/low, depending on how old you want your Beardie. There is a reason that I started out with an adult. Babies are a lot more maintenance, needing to be fed 2-3x a day (as many crickets it can eat in one sitting), as an adult only need to be fed once a day. My feeding schedule for my adult is about 10 crickets every other day, while offering her fresh greens (mustard, collard, &/or dandelion greens.. it's good to mix up the greens too) daily.
I do find caring for an adult very easy, but it's still shocking how they LOVE it hot. I'm too used to Ball pythons, keeping their temps at 90F while Beardies can stand temps up to 125F:O I found my perfect reptile for Arizona climates LOL:rofl:

Beardies are too cute when they sleep. Whatever position they are in when lights go off, that's where they'll fall asleep. I use a red light at night to keep my young beardies warm when it's cold, have you considered using one? Good job on taking care of your beardie! :gj:
