Getting a new Jungle carpet python?
I plan on getting a jungle carpet, and was curious; Do you think they are good pets? Also, if you have one, how big is it? Finally, what would you rate this snake on a scale of 1 to 10?

My carpet isn't a jungle, but she's about 3 feet, totally tame and a great pet indeed. I've worked with jungles too and I definitely think they are worth it. They get to a nice size, but not toooooo big and are just really cool snakes :gj:

I have a 9 year old jungle that's just under 8 feet by a inch or two. I had her for over seven years a she rocks:banana: I couldn't ask for a better temper snake. You can't go wrong with a jungle or any carpet for that matter.:gj:

I gave it an 8 because they are amazing pets as adults but take a little work as youngsters and they do get a little bigger than what an average keeper would want.

They are beautiful, well feeding, and amazing pets though once they get a bit older and less nippy. :gj: Their color change is also pretty neat to watch as they get more and more contrasted and yellow with age.

P.S. Just take a look at my beautiful baby!

I'm in love with all morelia spilota.

Don't limit yourself to jungles either, go ahead and take a look at all your options because there's a ton of them out there!

I've never met a snake I like better than carpets, a true 10 in my book.

wow thats a big jungle, my biggest is just over 5 foot

my male I had since he was a couple months old. he was a really defensive thing at first, but it really didn't matter because he wasn't big enough to break skin. after a few months of just getting used to the world around him, hes tame as anything else in my collection.

i will say my carpet pythons by far have the most personality out of any of my other snakes. my biggest one grunts and whines like a dog would. I imagine my other ones will when their bigger or so im told. she will also go diving in your drinks if you don't watch her. which usually ends up with her spilling them. once i caught her drinking my mountian dew lol. ill add, no ill effects were noted. im sure most of you have seen the picture of her stuck in the paper towel roll lol.

the jag (shes an IJ/Coastal tho)is curious as hell about everything. set down a plate of food and turn your head and next moment shes scanning over it or sometimes just in the food. the male thinks hes a tree snakes and climbs as high as he can all the time. he also has a thing for peeing on people he doesn't know lol

so your question is do they make great pets? hell yea they do. most fun I've had in my collection.

Mines a climber too, when I've got her out her only objective in life is to go up. Usually ends up on my head. I've only had her for a few weeks, but I really love that snake. It's probably a coastal/jungle mix btw, not positive though.

Best pet snake around, IMO....great feeding, hardy, mainly mellow, not too big, gorgeous color on well bred snakes. Can't go wrong!

I have a 1.0 jungle that is about 4 feet and a .1 jungle x diamond that is a little over 7 feet. The jungle was a little aggressive when I first got him but with a little patience and work he calmed down great. They are both wonderful pets. They are great eaters, great to handle and fun to watch. Both are in tall enclosures that allow for a lot of climbing and they use every inch available. I give them a solid 10!!!!!
