How to child proof a rack
Alright I have four kids they are 12, 9, 2, & 8 months. My wife agreed for me to get a rack system for my three snakes (two Fires and a Pastel). The only catch was I had to lock it up so that my 2 year old daughter couldn't get into it. Which those of you with children know is a huge undertaking.

My wife and I thought long and hard on how to acheive this task. We searched the internet and made many trips to Lowes, but couldn't seem to come up with something that would prevent my sneaky little girl from getting to the snakes. Then I finally came up with a 100% child proof idea and thought I would share it with everyone else.

I went to Lowes, bought 8 luggage locks, and two aluminum dow rods. I cut the dow rods in two, drilled some holes in both sides of the rack, then drilled holes in the ends of the rods for the locks and presto I now have a child proof rack from RBI. Here are some pics of the rack.

You could have put a drilled rod with a hooked end through them all and only used one lock though. BG likes it anyway. :gj:

I open them up at least once a day to check on them and the temps. It really isn't that much trouble. If I had more snakes then it would probably get to be a pain to unlock all of them.

Then instead of locking the cage, it would make more sense to lock the room. :)

That's what many people do for hots and large constrictors anyways.

I dont have any extra bedrooms. I have a four bedroom house and four kids. The Ball Pythons are in the Master bedroom, and it would really be a pain if my wife and I had to unlock the bedroom door every time we wanted to go in there. Plus my wife is a stay at home mom and she is in there all the time. But thanks for the suggestion.
