Daytime, you have 300 watts in "bulbs", 80 watts in 10.0 uvb bulbs (assuming two 48" bulbs, otherwise 10 watts per linear foot), 100 watts for the powersun, and maybe 5 watts a piece on the five gallon uth's , for a total of 495 watts max. Drops to 135 watts at night. Any surge protector rated for 500 watts or greater will do.
Re: hook-ups to a surge protector
I have a rack set up and I dont run it off surge protecter.
My computer is plugged into it and it shuts that down way to much for random reason so I wouldnt want my whole rack turning off for no reason.
Re: hook-ups to a surge protector
You are exactly right Hotshot, If it is a surge that must be manually reset, Their is the possibility while you are asleep or at work the smallest surge not even one enought to mess anything up can trip it. And then until you get home and turn it on or get up and turn it on your snales will be without heat. I know some people prefer using surge protectors but I do not and it's simply my opinion
Re: hook-ups to a surge protector
thank you for input, the protector, that runs my tv-computer-xbox, -hardrive and charge my phone is like 3000 watt protector and it hasn't tripped yet, thinking of getting a big wattage protector tol cover my but. also the way the 85 tank is set, up, both beardies could have there own, and the turtles and leos, will have to share
