humidity

i have a regular humidifer for a house. when i put it beside the tank it warm it for me. should i use this it lets out just steam from regular water that hits the tank and gives a undertank effect. have a standard red light at the top but when it get cold i use that for a while til the temp. raises. is this ok for now i just got him a week ago i plan to build a custom box but so i wanna spend lil as possible for now. but he has everything he needs only 1 1/2 ft

You could look into buying equipment that you could transfer from one enclosure to the next - how do you plan on heating the custom enclosure?

And I'm sorry but I don't understand what you are asking about the humidity? :oops:

Does the humidifier cause condensation you need to get rid of or does it make his humidity too high?

Have you insulated the glass tank with foam board? This should help with the temps and shouldn't break the bank - though to be fair a UTH and either a dimmer switch or a low end thermostat aren't too bad either.

Having the humidifier in the room will not hurt but I don't think it will really make that much of a difference with the temperature.

You are better off getting a UTH with a reptile thermostat.

It will increase the humidity, which they need 40-60% normally and 60-80% when shedding, but it won't help with heating at all and may reduce the temperature slightly. You will need an actual heat source.

You already made a thread about this. A humidifier will not noticeably increase the temperature for the snake. If will just increase the humidity.

You should be checking your temperatures with a digital probe and your humidity with a digital sensor. If you don't have thermometers then you need to get some.

You can run the humidifyer in the room with the snake and it won't cause problems unless the humidity is above 70% for a long period of time.

I think I got more of an idea of what you were asking on the second reading.

You are using the output from the humidifier as an under tank heater.

Watch out the humidifier isn't creating condensation near any of the electrical equipment when you use it like that.

Basically it's a risky idea.

Honest opinion?

Spend the money to fix your enclosure in a more accepted way until you get the next enclosure built. Do you have a timeframe for that?

What are you planning on building? Maybe you could reuse components if you buy the right things.

I have worked in retail sales for a long time and it definately takes trial and error to learn to understand what someone is saying without knowing their language.
