    Humidity
Something strange is going on with my humidity. I keep my two ball pythons in separate glass enclosures. I am using outdoor carpet as substrate. I have two identical hides as well as a water dish in the enclosure. On top of my tank I have a piece of plexiglass that is placed over the top two-thirds of the tank. Normally my humidity stays at 50% to 55%.

I have two different types of thermometers that measures the humiity. I have a flukers hygrometer that is velcroed to the bottom portion of the back side of the tank as well as an accurite that has a probe that is placed near the fluker. My fluker says that the humidity is 80% while the accurite is measuring 27%.

What is going on? They are both placed near the fluker hygrometer.

The acu-rite does not measure humidity at the probe it measures it at the unit. The probe is for the outdoor temp only and the unit measures indoor temp and humidity

Jason.........you are a good man. There for a second I thought I rode the short yellow bus to school while growing up!

So, in order to get an accurate humidity reading I should place the entire unit inside the cage. Thanks!

If you don't want to have the whole sensor box inside the tank, you could mod it to make all the sensors external:
