Need help picking a vacuum.

Hey everybody. I happen to be one of those people that ended up with a dog that sheds more than I even thought possible so I have been vacuuming a lot recently. In the past year I have gone through 4 vacuums and can't seem to find one that will last more than a few months. The last one I had was a Bissell made for pet hair and it lasted about 6 months before losing all suction no matter what I did to clean it out. Anybody got any suggestions? I'm getting tired of spending more on vacuums than I do on car insurance.

Look through the 20% off one item coupons that get mailed via USPS or email (if you don't have one I'll snail mail you one). Check that the coupon doesn't exclude Dyson products, some of the coupons have that exclusion, some don't. Note that there is no expiration date on the coupons even though they display one. I have two indoor cats. One sheds white hair so much I wonder where it all comes from as he isn't bald yet. I bought one of the predecessors to this vacuum in 2005, use it at least weekly, and it has never failed me. Use it on hardwood, lino, carpet, fancy area rugs. Use the appendages to clean up the stairs. Very easy to use, very smartly built. Bonus is that it is easy to clean the canister and never-needing-replacement filter, and no bags are needed (the see through canister makes it very easy to tell when it needs to be emptied also). I am proud to say my vacuum REALLY SUCKS!

If you need further reviews, I'm sure you can find some on the net. It may be fairly expensive, but then, if you kept buying vacuums that didn't work as good, you'd probably spend this much in 2 years, and my vacuum after nearly 5 years shows no signs of quitting. So the cost over time is pennies, something like a quality bed. ;)

Thanks for the info. I have considered dropping the money on one of those but just hadn't taken the plunge yet. Although at the rate I'm going one of those vacuums that lasted a year would put me ahead of where i am currently.

I'm on my second dog w/this vacuum and have not one complaint about it. It's been picking up it's fair share of dog hair all along with zero problems. Well worth the price.

Although the Dyson is best, we didn't have the money to drop on one so we got the Eureka Pet Lover HEPA bagless vaccuum, and it works very well for the price. We have three cats and two chihuahua's and it picks up an amazing amount of hair. only complaint i'd have about it is the canister is pretty small and fills up quickly.

I'm used to having to empty the canister a lot. I empty it 2 times per vacuuming and I vacuum 3 times a week. So 6 canisters a week of dog hair from one dog. I think all the food I give her goes into hair.

I got used to emptying it a lot real quick lol

We had the yellow Dyson when we had 4 dogs and LOVED it. When we had our house fire in 05 it got destroyed and was never replaced :( We plan on getting the purple one when we get our new house though.

I say dyson animal too. They are kinda expencive but worth every penny.

Dyson Animal....all the way. We have had ours for 9 years...still on the same one. I have...or had...3 dogs (now two :tears:) plus a 9 year old child, 3200 sq. ft house...and a husband who is anal and insists on vacuuming every other day practically. Still works awesome. We had to replace the hose as I stretched it too far one day.

I vacuum blinds w it...corners...vacuum the tile floor and the carpet...plus you have a thing that will hook to it and it is awesome for stairs and dog beds, vents...yada yada yada.

It is an investment as its pricey...but I can say...I would of spent more money replacing vacuums by now. My only complaint is I don't have a second to keep upstairs so I have to carry it up there. Oh the things I have to go through....:rofl::rofl:
