    Regurgitated
hi i need some help . i fed my bp 2 mice .. hours apart and i think one of the mice were a lil too big but he got it down.. but could hardly move around and was on a side then 3days later he brought back up the first one so i hadto clean the tank because of the decomposing smell:( then i went sleep and woke up this morning and the other badly decomposed mouse was in the corner of the tank.. will the snake be alright? and when next should i feed him?

From what you've described it sounds like you fed the snake way too much. How old is this snake? What are your temps and humidity? What are you using for heat? When is the last time the snake fed successfully?

There can be other reasons for regurges other than a large meal; but a bp should not be hindered in movement after eating a meal. You should wait at least 2 weeks before trying to feed again and feed a smaller than usual prey item. Feed one mouse smaller than what you usually give. Regurging takes its toll on a snakes system so you definitely want to wait 2 weeks.

I agree with the above. I just had the same thing happen to me on two different snakes on the same day. Say the least I was completely freaking out. I thought I got some bad feeders.

I waited two weeks then I fed a smaller than I normally would animal to them.

    So far they seem fine.

I did call a close friend and he told me the same thing wait a couple of weeks before feeding again.

Good Luck, I know its nerve racking,

If you've never had this problem before, you should be OK by waiting a couple of weeks and feeding it a small meal. Use must then wait for it to digest it, and crap it out. Although it may not seem that bad, this can be fatal if not taken seriously. Regurgitating a meal can take a lot out of your snake. Make sure it's well hydrated and wait 2 weeks like people said.:gj:

    Temps are NOT good then.
What are the exact temperatures? You can not just assume that your ambient temperature is enough because you live in a warmer climate. They need a proper temperature gradient in their cage.

The warm side should be 90-95F and the cool side should be 80-85F with an ambient temp of 80-85F. Do not guess.
Are you using any heating elements in your enclosure? If so, how are you controlling them?
Get your hands on some good digital thermometers with probes to measure exact temps in your cage.

This is why BG shouldn't be lazy and read the whole thread.:D If he never had a problem before, it's probably because he fed it a large meal. However, his snake would be much better off taking BlackC's advice on husbandry.

BG does know people that do keep their snakes at room temp when they live in warmer climates with no problems though.

Should the animal see the vet, or is this something that is common with BP's?
