Re: Question About my new BP
All of mine love to rub their lower jaw on my hands and in the grooves of my fingers, None of them open their mouths noticeably, Are you sure he ain't just draggin on your skin hard enough that it just pulls it open.
Re: Question About my new BP
is he breathing through his mouth? could have a respiratory infection. listen for any noises when he breathes
Re: Question About my new BP
Well. First of all. They don't have hands. Mine do this too. Well the ones who are not head shy that is. It must feel good to scratch the chin.
Re: Question About my new BP
Could be the little animal wants a place to help him shed his skin and may need a bit more humidity to help the process get started. Perhaps offer a "humidity box".
Re: Question About my new BP
so that has sumthing to do with humidity?
Re: Question About my new BP
I'm not sure your snake's behavior has to do with humidity, but it could. Do you have a hygrometer to tell the humidity level in your terrarium? Ideal range I believe is 50-60% humidity. And offering a plastic hide box (in a warm area of the cage temp in box temp ~ 80-85) with damp moss or paper towels would make a good humidity box... just a thought.
Re: Question About my new BP
Mine do the same thing...just not with the mouth open. I tend to agree with the other post. He could just like it a little harder......I cannot believe I just said that...lol
I have a baby that hates us still...very fiesty...but get a hold of under the chin and she is mesmorized.
Re: Question About my new BP
I believe he is resetting his jaw. After feeding, sometimes for no reason at all they will present a yawn, when in actuality they are opening their mouth to reset jaw position since there jaw does not have a true joint. It is not held together bone to bone with ligaments like ours. Make sense? It may be a little off and the yawn or open wide process allows the muscles etc to reset it to nuetral.
