Size of feeder mouse question??
Well i finally got my scale and started weighing everything. Well I weighed my 5 month ball and thought she was "big" well turns out she is quite small....looks healthy but only at 198 grams...empty. So I thought...wow...maybe I am not feeding her enough. I was giving her 2 small adults every 7 days. Which if you weigh out one of those is a little over the 15% mark. But as far as the size compared to the thickest part of her body its small.
This week I gave her 2 large adults which were right around 43 grams each. She ate both....had no problems. Mind you she is HUGE!!!! But I have seen her out and about at night chillin outside her hide. So she seems fine.
Here is the question....did I do ok giving her the two large adults since she took them and seems ok or should I go by the 15%? I am certainly not looking to power feed her. I just want to make sure she is getting enough food.
sorry the question is lost in the explantion guys!!
Re: Size of feeder mouse question??
I dont think you have to stress out about it so much at her age, she will be much bigger before you realise. Just give her what she will take and looks healthy for her. This isnt about the math realy :).
I do sugest switching her over to rats, while she is young and doesnt care about what she is eating. Fedding 5+ mice plus to a juvy/adult BP must be harsh... a Rat pup should be the same weight as a adult mice, 25~g around here, and if a pet store has them, they usualy have bigger sizes too, so you dont have to buy 2.
