    snake temps
i just picked up a new bp today and im just wondering if it will be ok to let it go at room temperature until the UTH heats up. I have a heat lamp i could put on it for awhile if necessary.

How long are you expecting the UTH to heat up? It shouldn't take more then an hour and yes, the snake will be fine at room temp for a short time.

Do you have anything to regulate the UTH with? They can get hot enough to cause thermal burns on your snake.

i thought i read on the package that it takes 12 hours to warm up but i dont see it now. I do have a thermostat for it but i have another one on a tank directly next to it, same tank, same substrate, same uth and that stays mid to high 80's with the thermostat not plugged in... atleast right now(NE kinda cold)

There is no way that it Will take that long to heat up, my zoomed heat pad only took about 45-60 mins.

What kind of thermometer are you using to measure how hot he UTH is and where is it placed in the tank?

Even with cooler room temps, the UTH can still get above the suggested 95* mark.

i dont know a brand name but it has a probe that i have under the hide on top of the UTH... and the uth is place on the left side of the tank right under the hide.
