    Vision vs. boaphile
I am currently looking into buying a new cage for my largest ball python and I am stuck between Vision plastics 36" wide - 28" deep - 18" high and Boaphile plastics 36" wide 24" deep 11.5" high.

I would like to get your guys input on which you prefer and why?

I have only used boaphile and Freedom Breeder racks, and I have issues with both.

The Freedom Breeder racks have a metal mesh as the ceiling to each drawer. Some snakes like to rub their faces on this mesh and this causes abrasions which have lead to abscesses. They have added the option of "ventilation inserts" that have holes instead of the metal mesh, but we still have seen rubbing injuries from these inserts.

The Boaphile racks aren't big enough for adult ball pythons. They work great until the snakes reach about 1.5 kg, and then they are too small. The amount of waste the snakes produce at that size causes the tubs to become polluted with ammonia and fungal growth very quickly. Not a big deal if you have a small collection and changing out tubs frequently fits into your schedule, but when you have as many snakes as we do it becomes a huge PITA. We typically need to completely change out the boaphile racks every two weeks, whereas the Freedom Breeder racks can go 5 weeks or longer. (Note: we keep our snakes on aspen shavings).

Overall, I prefer Boaphiles for juvies and the Freedom Breeder for adults.

I don't have any experience with the vision racks.

I would go with the boaphile cage.

The height is much more realistic and I think it looks a lot better then the vision cages.

The Vision V221 is a nice model. What size is your largest BP you are looking to move?

    +1

For large BPs, if you want a cage I much prefer RB 3x2x1 cages.

I just went and looked at the Reptile Basic cages and they are exactly what I think am looking for...the snake I am looking to move is around 2 1/2 to 3 feet long and is a female I dont have a scale to weight her yet but she is heavy side.
