    Toxoplasmosis?
Do any of you guys worry about getting this from your breeder rats??

I hadn't read that they can carry this til recently and I have read some really scary things about it so I was curious about what you all think, know and say about it.
    Thanks rhsm

Yeah part of the toxoplasmosis life cycle is spent in rats, the other part in cats. Its passed via feces, and is a pretty bad disease. Its one of the ones that pop into my mind when I become paranoid about health problems.

But I just kind of avoid thinking of it.

"Up to one third of the world's human population is estimated to carry a Toxoplasma infection.[3] The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention notes that overall seroprevalence in the United States as determined with specimens collected by the National Health and Nutritional Examination Survey (NHANES) between 1999 and 2004 was found to be 10.8%, with seroprevalence among women of childbearing age (15 to 44 years) of 11%."
