Thanksgiving Dinner

Was yours a traditional turkey day, or did you celebrate with another type of cuisine? Our tradition is to order Indian food. By the time Thanksgiving day rolls around, I've had turkey lunches in three different offices and can't take any more of it...lol.

I'd love to hear what everyone else serves up...whether traditional or not.

Thanksgiving was normal but we decided for Christmas to grill steaks and baked taters and salad. It gets old having the same ol food from holiday to holiday.

Totally agree with you there. We haven't decided what we are doing for the next holiday dinner, but I'm sure we'll throw something non-traditonal in there. Grilled steaks and baked taters sounds like a great way to go.

Just a normal dinner, except we added a little something: venison! Never had it before, but it was good. :P

I've heard it's a little gamey (did I spell that right? Lol), but would probably be willing to try it. One of the senior partners in the firm I work for hunts buffalo and he always brings back a ton of that stuff. He has it for Christmas dinner.

Well, this was my first Thanksgiving alone (and sick). So, I just cooked up a few of my favorite Thanksgiving veggie dishes, and some stuffing, but no turkey. Makes no sense to cook up even a small turkey just for myself, and the turkey breasts were pricier than I wanted to pay just to get turkey for Thanksgiving. And chicken isn't even a substitute.

I LOVE our Christmas dinner, so I wouldn't change that for anything. It's a standing rib roast (the same roast that rib-eyes are cut from) with our favorite veggies. We have it every Christmas eve (or the eve of the day we celebrate Christmas, since I've not been home on the actual Christmas day in years - this year will be a week early).

Im going to try Turducken next year, really seems like something that I would enjoy. Im iffy on the duck though so it might just be Turken or something. Typically eat turkey though. Although, being that my family and I are all Russian immigrants, our table is covered in traditional American dishes and a whole bunch of Russian ones too.

My wife and I, and our two kids drove to Newhall, CA near Six Flags to meet with my side of the family, and we had honey-baked Ham, Turkey, and believe it or not... PORK! (We, Mexicans cooked it in a "Birria" sauce) It was delicious.

We also had potato salad, mashed potatoes, spaghetti salad, and a whole lotta deserts like pumpkin pie, cheesecake, fruit salad, and jello.

I wanted to go for seconds, but my stomach would not allow it. It was delicious!

I ordered pizza...
