? On buying a spider ball python
ok so today i went to my local petshop to buy my other 2 there weekly meal ... and the guy in reptile room kowing that im looking to add to my collection says to me hey chris look what i got and pulls out the outstanding looking early 09 spider ... they do not know the sex as of yet they are getting it sexed tomorrow .. and since they know me well they said that they would do a payment plan with me for 1 month untill its paid off ... so what im asking is if there asking price is reasonable they are asking $300 for it ... it has very high white bottom
but the sex is unknow as of now and i know that females are gennerally worth more than males in most cases ...
Re: ? On buying a spider ball python
It's not a bad price if it's a female since you're at a pet store. If you go to a reptile expo you'll can save a few bucks, especially if it's a male.
Go to White Plains this weekend...you're not that far.
Re: ? On buying a spider ball python
yea i was thinking about it... depends on if i have to work or not
Re: ? On buying a spider ball python
Wow... $300 for a spider sounds pricey... Especially if it's a male.
I picked up a '09 male Spider this past weekend for $125 and he's superb.
Females were going for $200. Maybe if it's a really unique looking female Spider, I could see paying $300 for it but for an '09 hatchling, still seems pretty pricey to me.
Then again it's a pet store. Not that they're bad, they just charge alot more for their animals. I agree with Big Gunns. Grab one up from White Plains if you can.
Oh dear I just agreed with Big Gunns...

Yeah, I would say the price has really gone down. I got my boy from a show for 200 last year and someone else said they would go 175 for another male. 300 now would be kinda high even for a girl IMO. (all spiders have wobbles btw, not one does NOT have it, just varying degrees) You should soooo skip work and go to the show! :gj: Lol, I regret not doing that once already!
I really like the spider I got from the one I DID attend though...higher white sides are nice and all, but so are orange/yellow/and white! :D

Mine has a tiny wobble when he's nervous but I knew about the wobbles before I purchased a spider. It kind of makes their personality more interesting I think.
High white is nice but I prefer a lighter yellow all over. Alot of spiders have dulled colors. I also like reduced pattern. Attaching a pic so you see what I mean. The one on the left is the boy I picked up next to one his clutch mates. See the big differance in colors? (pic is blurry but you get the idea)
**Also wanted to add that I absolutely LOVE spiders with green eyes. Mines got a good amount of green and that was a huge factor in my purchase.**

Thanks!
To each his/her own though. It's just my preferances that lead me to buy the boy I did, but some people like duller colors and not so reduced patterns. Nothing wrong with that!
Buy the animal YOU like, not one others tell you to like :)
