Death
I have a ball python and a king snake for about 4 years now, last winter I got 2 male bp's, those guys have been great, they ate every time food was offered about every 10 days except they both didn't eat last week or this week. Just today they passed away, they're both in separate tanks, one was in shed. I gave both of them water this morning at around 8am and I just got in at 5 and they are both dead. no mites, no markings whatsoever. My other ball python appears to be healthy and my king and cornsnakes are doing fine, all three of them ate fine.
It can't be related to them not eating because my other bp has gone a month without eating before a couple of times.
I just find it so weird that i've never had a snake die on me yet and today 2 of them are gone, i'm pretty upset about it and i'm wondering if anyone can let me know how this happened

Re: Death
No way to know why they died unless you submit them to a veterinarian for a necropsy (autopsy). I'm sorry for your loss. :(

Re: Death
Were you regulating their heat sources?

How old/big were they? Perhaps they were already sold to you as adults?

It certainly seems like something that would affect both of them, like heat source.
You said you got both water, any chance something was wrong with the water?
I would think if it were an illness you would have noticed some signs. I think heat source is the most likely.

Re: Death
A heat source come on guys and gals one night ? Thats a stretch.

If there was a heat spike overnight, that could most definitely kill a couple snakes. It has happened to people on this forum.

Re: Death
there would be heat burns to show that the snaked was burned though.
This is verrrrrrry strange, and I really can't come up with much besides take it to a vet. Maybe some sort of parasite they both had? What I find CRAZZZY is that they both died on the same day! I'm sooo sorry for your loss, but you should deffinately pin-point the problem so you know its not something that your other snakes can get. Whethers its problem that was caused by you, or just something your snake had. Good luck, and again sorry for you loss.

Re: Death
There wouldn't necasarily be burns on the snakes. Ambiant temps spiking up will kill the snakes, without a mark on them.
No telling what killed them without much more information, and probably still take a necropsy to tell you for sure, if then.
Sorry to hear you lost your pets.

Actually a heat spike can kill inside an hour.
It can also result in permanent neurological symptoms in snakes that survive it.
