    1 UTH or 2?
My goodness it has been awhile since I have been on the site. Good news is that means you all have done awesome in teaching me the correct way to house and take care of my BP. Bad news is...... the weather has changed and now I have more questions:D

I'm in AZ and do house my BP in a glass viv. I use a UTH with a Rheostat and Accurite on the warm side. I have had him since May and haven't had to use any heating element on the cool side because it has always stayed in the correct temp range. Well, it's now cooler here and the cool side is getting too cool:O. I thought I read somewhere that you should only need 1 correct sized UTH for a 20 gallon viv. I may just be making that up though LOL. My question is, a heat lamp with a 75 watt gets too hot over the cool side so should I just add a UTH to the cool side???? Do owners with 20 gal. vivs ever use 2 UTH's? I only use paper towels as substrate.

The warm side sits at about 89 to 91 degrees. The cool side however is only in the high 70's!

    Help with ideas please:O

Oh and thankfully I did a search on here and found a great tip about a dab of hot glue on the probe to make it stick!!!! You have no idea how excited I am about that!!!!

You can use another UTH or heat lamp, but the thing you should really worry about is ambient temps. It gets freezing in my room at night and I don't know how to keep my room above 75F, but I'm trying I guess.

The use of an oil filled radiator (wallyworld, home depot, or lowes for about $30) works great at keeping a smallish room (under 15x15 feet) at the temp range you need. The issue is that most people, from what I have read, don't have their snakes in a room where they can keep the temps at 80F, bedroom or office for example. A second option is to put a rheostat on a heat lamp if it is raising the temps too much.

Ceramic heat emitters come in 40 watts and 60 watts too. Maybe try a lower wattage.

BEst bet is space heater(oil radiator) with built in digital thermostat. Lowes has them for 60 bucks. On medium power set to 75 keeps room at 81 all year.

I'm in the same boat as you, and have been using the overhead heating lamp that came with our set-up. If left on constantly, it raises the temps to a little over 80, so I've plugged it into the thermostat that the UTH is plugged into. It cycles on and off like the UTH does.

Alas, that kills the humidity, plunging it to 45 and under. To combat that, I have a damp paper towel in there most of the time. I also squeeze out water drops on top of the hides. It helps a lot. Good luck!
