Having Problems with ambient temps anybody run belly and back heat

hi first off this forum is awesome, i just built a rack with 6 41 quart tubs started off with back heat couldnt get me temps up so i switched it to belly heat and cant get my ambient over 82 high and 77 low temp in the room is about 70-73 and unfortunately in this situation i cant raise the ambient temp in the room so has anyone ever ran back and belly heat? do you think that would work to raise my ambient temps? oh im running 1ft of 11" flexwatt on each shelf currently. thanks for any tips you can give

well you should set your flexwatt to like 95 or so and then go from there. Then you should be fine, I know my ambient is fairly low but the snakes will spend more time on the hot side. and yeah you can run both belly and back heat, just run one long strip on the back past each tub and set it to like 95 then your belly on the same all on the same side, thus giving you a nice warm side

You could run both but you would need two thermostats in my opinion.

perhaps you should stick to the 1/3 of the enclosure heated.

nixer ya lost me. do you think the ambients are high enough with the belly set at 95 is that what your saying?

Cool side = 82F.
Warm side = 92F.
Ambient air = 78-85F.

what im saying is that 1/3rd of the tub should have heat under it.
hence if you are not getting enough heat now its due to that.
also where are you measuring your hotside temps from?
and what are you measuring your ambient temps with? and on which end of the tub

if everything is staying consistent, how are you temps fluctuating?

ive measured the warm side and the cool side with a temp gun and an ambient air temp gauge just to be sure it wasnt a false reading, im using a herpstat nd with the probe on the heat tape and its set at 95. my ambient temps are 77-78 cool side 80-82 warm side. the temps really arent fluctuating that much maybe a degree or so. i figured a foot of 11' wide heat tape would be enough for a 41qt tub especially using belly heat

if your probe is on the heattape then your heattape will only get to 95. the inside of the tub will be lower.

on another note do you already have snakes in there? if so what are they doing?

yeah i knew that it wouldnt go higher than 95 since its in the heat tape ive played with it and its at 98, and figured out that the first piece of heat tape on the top is for some reason almost ten degrees cooler im going to replace it as soon as more arrives from big apple herp, also as for snake i currently only have my spider in the rack he seems to be pretty content mostly either in the middle or warm side but i have my other three that i had a buddie snakesitting while i was moving being shipped to me the first week of decemeber, i have been able to get my ambient up to 86 on warm side the second and third tub down, thanks for all the input i figure i just got a bad piece of flex watt, so we will see if that was the problem and i ordered enough flexwatt to finish the other three shelves and have extra if i need to run some down the back but hopefully wont have to but if i do i have an on/off therm i can use for that. thanks again for the input
