    Overhead heating for Hogg island?
I might be able to get a HIB for christmas if im lucky. i was just wondering if instead of using a UTH in the 4x2x2, could i use some type of overhead heating such as a red bulb? i know they like to feel warmth from above sources, but i was wondering if i could use it as the only heat source if i could get it to the correct temps. ??

UTH's are better than bulbs in my personal opinion.

With a species like a Bci, it's pretty hard to use a light high powered enough to heat the basking spot to proper temperatures without zapping the humidity to nothingness.

I would suggest a Radiant Heat Panel if you are getting a custom enclosure. They are a bit expensive, but well worth it. You can also use flexwatt or a reptile heating pad, but neither work as well in a custom enclosure as a Radiant Heat Panel.

Good luck! I hope you choose to go with a Hog Island Boa! :D
