Hatchlings who do not have their first shed?
Hi,
Can I get some wise words about this from the group? :please:
One of Cleo's clutch which hatched on the 22nd of September still hasn't shed. And now Natasha's clutch ( hatched between 4th and 8th November ) only has 3 which have shed so far. :worry:
I don't think humidity is the problem as there are droplets all over the tubs - but said tubs are too small to get a digital humidity gauge in and still fit a hide and a waterbowl.
Has anyone had this as a problem before and found the solution?

Is it eating yet? If so, that seems like the growth alone would cause a shed. How about using sand paper as a substrate? (not seriously, but who knows, it may start the process).
I sure hope someone is able to help you out. I am interested to see what transpires of this. Good luck.

Hi,
The one from Cleo's clutch ate tonight for the first time following a tip from Big Gunns. :D
I know if I wait he will eventually shed I just wondered what caused the problem.
The ones from Natasha's clutch I have not offered food as I normally wait until a few of them have passed a week since the hatchling shed and the furthest along that route is only on day 6 post shed. :)

Good that it is eating at least. If it continues to eat it will grow and should shed due to growth alone. It is possible that since it never shed and went that long without eating it may have been a little too weak to shed when it should have. I would guess if it keeps the eating up it will shed for you. That said, I would still keep him/her on slightly damp paper towels until then.
