Never seen this. Please look!

I was trying to get some updated pics of the snakes and grabbed my 1500g pastel. As I got her on the counter top I noticed a CLEAR AND SOMEWHAT STICKY liquid run out of her mouth. I was going to open her mouth and check, but as I braced her neck right after her head, a bunch more came flowing out.

The snake room is 79 and her hot spot is 88 so if this is actually something, I can't say that I saw this coming.

Like I said, it's clear and somewhat sticky yet water-like.

Anyone seen this before and should I be alarmed? Or could this just be some water mixed with her saliva that's been sitting in her throat/neck?

Sounds like mucus. How does she sound when she breathes?

It can happen if they have just had a drink before you lift them certainly.

As well as checking by looking in her throat I would also look for signs of mucus in the waterbowl and smeared on cage furniture and have a good listen to her breathing while sitting relaxed.

Sometimes when handling the position or faster breathing rate can make it sound a little wheezy ( as can the shedding process).

If you can't find any further signs that point towards an RI I would just keep an eye on her. :)

Its a possibility of RI.. Id take her to the vet asap

I just checked on her again and was going to force her mouth open. There is absolutely NO weezing, NO more liquid or mucus leaking out her mouth, NO signs of mucus smeared around her tub, and there never was anything coming out her nostrils so no worry there.

I was trying to get her mouth open, but she definitely didn't want that happening. So I never succeeded with that... But I guess I'll just keep an eye on her and assume that I grabbed her soon after she drank.

This just happened to me this past week.
i was handling my ball and some clear mucus came out of his mouth and nose after tightly wrapping himself around me.
i cleared it away, put him back in his tank, watched him like a hawk over the weekend,no further signs of any sort of RI, but i still brought him to the vet on monday to find out he was in perfect health.
breathing was fine, most likely drank as mentioned above before being handled.:gj:
Forgot to mention, he is about to start shedding, that may also be some added stress to add to the situation and cause the regurg.

This happened with my girl a few months ago. She probably had just taken a drink. It was drippy and clear, and it just sort of came out every where. I totally understand how you are feeling! I had a very similar post actually. Your snake should be ok. If it keeps up, then I'd take it to a vet. Good luck!
