New Pair of Lampropeltis Triangulum Gaigeae!!!
AKA, Black Milk Snakes. This pair arrived today at Deborah's house, and she took these pictures of my new black milk pair for me - thank you Deb!!!!! They are from Kara at NERD, and are San Antonion Zoo stock!
This is the little girl, Onyx - and she has a bit of stuck shed.

This is the little boy, Jett - and Deb says he's a wannabe rattlesnake.

They are wee little worms right now, so I'll be picking up some frozen mouse pinks/peaches for them this weekend in B'ham!
I'll be bringing them home NEXT weekend!

Re: New Pair of Lampropeltis Triangulum Gaigeae!!!
Excellent pickup, Robin! :)
My pair of Gaigeae are by far my most entertaining snakes. They're both over 4 feet now, and their feeding responses are hilarious. Although they've never bitten me or even hissed, they are absolute lunatics when it comes to feeding. The male is an exceptional bad aim so he regularly ejects himself out of the cage and tries to bite anything around him. :D They also aren't typical constrictors and will often use their bodies to "smash" their prey against the floor or wall of their cage.
Cool snakes! You're going to have a blast!!

Thanks Ed! I can't wait for them to turn jet black - it's going to be fun to watch them "morph" into all black snakes!

Thanks Lawrence! I'm really excited to add them to my collection. Kara told me that adults have a feeding response like a retic! LOL
When I first decided on them, I was chatting with her and asked if she had any, and was excited to learn that yes, indeed she did. First I was just going to get a female, then figured - why not get a pair? I haven't decided yet if I'll breed them. For now, they're just some cool snakes in my private collection!

I love the names, and I must say now I have those here I might have to rethink my colubrid collection, after all I have 2 spot left for colubrids
You will have to take pictures to show their progression through the years.

There's so little information out there on them, especially care sheets - but from what I've been able to glean from what little information I can find - it varies snake to snake but generally by a year and a half to two years old they should be completely black. :D

They're adorable, Robin! I can't wait to see LOTS of pictures documenting the changes they go through! :P
