Argh... I know better (I think)
Okay, so my female hasnt eaten for almost two months, she actually hides from FT/PK and will just bump live away from her. She's started hanging out on top of her hides rather than in them. Temps and humidity are golden. Main reason I bring this up is I'm sick of wasting money on uneaten rats, could I have a mouser?
Her previous owners fed her one mouse every week or two for the two years they had her. Based on her size when I first got her I bumped her to medium rats with no problems for months. At first did live then moved to ft after a bite scare.

My spider did da same thang... mine didnt eat after da 3rd month
best thing I kould say is wait it out with her

try changing over to African soft fur rats for a few meals. that sometimes works. also make sure there is no reason for your snake to be stressed out. more then likely its just fasting though. they generally can fast for a very long time without having a problem. i once had an adult fast for just over a year without losing much weight. she came out of it perfectly healthy. as far as im concerned if their not eating try live since you can cage the rodent till the next week and try again. you can do this till the rodent gets to big.
with dead rats their a one shot deal. then you need to toss them.

You can refreeze a rat one time I believe.
Don't quote me, since I feed live :P but I've always been told it's safe to refreeze once.
It wouldn't be out of the ordinary for an adult female to be off feed right now.

Honestly, if you are going to deal with ball pythons you are going to have this issue often. One thing you can try is feeding her smaller meals. I try to always offer my adults small rats, as opposed to mediums. They seems to eat more consistently with this prey size. Good luck.

I agree, I've had the same results, smalls seem to be the best size to keep them on feed longer.

Thanks, I think next round I'll give a small a shot. Was thinking either that or a mouse next time.

One last thing about this... My ball acts -terrified- of her FT's... If I leave it in her tub with her for longer than a few minutes she attempts to escape the tub. Any ideas? Just a fast and she doesnt want to mess with a prey item?
