Is the Congo/Jungle same as the Vanilla?
:confused:I have a Vanilla hatchling & I was just looking at Vin Russo's page again and reading about his "Congo's" & Congo Pastel's

Wel those congo's look identical to the vanilla. Same color, head spot, lip spots (moustach) etc..

Plus the way he describes how the congo cleans up & brightens whatever morph you put it with. It also sounds like what the vanilla does. How many lightener genes can there be? We know of the fire and the vanilla. Maybe im a little behind but has anyone heard if the congo & vanilla is the same? IMO they are.

My next question is, if you are breeding a snake which is known to be the same thing as another snake a big breeder first discovered & named, then which name is proper to use when selling your babies? The commonly known name? Or the original name from the original breeder?

i can't help you with the first question but what morph is know by something other than what the breeder called it? as far as i know we call everything by what the big breeder or who ever found it. sometimes we later find things are the same morph, like butter and lesser, but now their different lines of the same morph. I would still call a butter a butter and a lesser a lesser, just like if I had a lemon pastel id still call it a lemon.

I've owned both. They're not even close in person. The vanilla is a lot cleaner...and makes the super vanilla. There's no super congo as far as I know.
