Can a Rainbow Boa spread IDB/IBD to ball pythons?
    Same friend, different boid type..
She wants to know if a rainbow will transmit IDB/IBD to her ball pythons.
I of course could not remember the acronym...

sigh... and I just paid her some money I owed her... she is selling of the tarantulas I sold her at a very cheap price...
    Oh well move on....

If you can let me know if Rainbow boas can transmit the IDB to ball pythons..
    Thanks
    Carol

IBD... and yes, all Boids (including all boas and pythons) can transfer the virus.

I suspect the question she intended to ask was more like "Can rainbow boas carry IBD asymptomatically for years, the way redtail boas can, and are they as prone to having it as redtails are?" At least, that would have been my question. ^_^

It's a retrovirus and like other viruses can be dormant for years, until it reactivates.
