Can my female breed ok at 1300g?

I bred a Female Pastel at that weight last year

Your question is far too general. We don't know how long the snake is, or how old it is.
A long skinny snake shouldn't be breeding. I wouldn't breed a 1300 gram snake under 4 years of age. It sounds like she needs another year to finish growing up.

There are reports that many snakes bred small continue to lay small clutches even as they grow larger. I won't breed a snake under 1500 grams. If they're 1490, I'll start them breeding, unless they go off feed--I expect they'll top 1500 within the month. But 1300 is really iffy.

I know there are people who breed at 1200, but I disagree with it...a snake that size is just too small.

I respect your opinion, but I disagree. I had a 1200 gram female produce four perfectly healthy eggs for me this season. In my opinion, they will breed if they are ready and will not if they are not. I do, on the other hand, agree that breeding them young / small could affect their clutch sizes in the future.

I bred my 06 normal female last season (started pairing up in Oct.) around 1400g. She kept eating on her off days, and never ovulated until Feb-ish, and didn't lay until April. She even had a meal or two while gravid. I weighed her pre-ovulation and she was around 1600g.

You can start pairing her up now, but just keep an eye on both the male and female. Make sure they stay hydrated, and that they are not having substantial weight loss.

She will be fine. Just keep feeding her. I would offer her one small rat every five days to put a little more weight on her before breeding season. Good luck!
