Possible DH Lav Snow
I'm just trying to figure this out. If mamma snake and pappa snake were both DH lav snow... then... I would have a 1 in 16 chance of producing a lav snow of the DH offspring? Is that right? Ugh, sorry genetic newbie (obviously).

Re: Possible DH Lav Snow
Double het to double het, give you a 1/16 chance of producing the double homozygous.
You will also produce homozygous for one, or homozygous for the other one, all possible for the other one
and 50% possible double het
But if they are "possible" DH, you might get lucky and may be not. The probability that both are DH is lower. What if one is a het lavender and the other one het axanthic. It will take time to figure it out and actually produce a Lavender Snow.
Good luck ;)
btw : why you messed up ?

Re: Possible DH Lav Snow
Huh, the question doesn't make sense?
Snow is a double recessive morph already.
And if you have triple het X triple het I have no clue...haha

hes using a lav albino and axanthic, only 2 genes.
and yes 1/16 chance

Re: Possible DH Lav Snow
1 in 16 Lavender Axanthic
3 in 16 Lavender 66% het Axanthic
3 in 16 Axanthic 66% het Lavender
9 in 16 66% het Axanthic, 66% het Lavender

Re: Possible DH Lav Snow
My next question is do you think it's worth investing in the lav snow project @ this time. What do you think a lav snow will cost in a couple of years?

short answer, no
snows are one of the least in demand morphs if you ask me, general opinion is they don't look as good as stuff in the BEL complex. snows arn't as white and its double recessive. if i wanted a red eyed white snake, id go something in the BEL complex with albino, better white and still has red eyes. i would find the project harder to sell than say a lesser albino or something.
with that being said, if you want a lav snow, it might be hard to find one for sale because of the above reasons. you might have to make your own just because they might be hard to come by. so toss up if you ask me. but from how i've seen prices drop, even tho i don't like it, you might be better off hoping to buy one in a couple of years than going through the headache of breeding and hitting the 1/16 chance.
eigher way I don't think you can make a bad choice here.
