    Feeding Issues! help?
Ok so i got this normal hatchling ive had her about 3 weeks. The guy i got it from said she was eating live so i wanted to change that to F/T. Finally feeding day comes and i was doing the zombie dance and she showed absolutly no interest at all, i mean it was like she didnt even know her tub was open! after while she showed a little more interest but still didnt strike. So finally i just left it in the tub and when i came home it was gone! ive tried this 2 more times since then and she hasnt taken it! any suggestions? should i just keep her on live? I was planning on feeding her twice a week bc she is only 55 grams!

Did you try hitting it with a blow dryer?

feed live a few times then try switching to F/T. its a lot on a baby to take this much change at once.

From my experience warm doesnt really cut it , especially when switching over. The prey item needs to be hot.

Most babies like live! I would feed it live every 5 days. Try rat fuzzy or mouse hopper! You can try to switch to f/t in a few months! At this size, the prey won't harm your snake!

I have a whole library of tricks when it comes to converting..Try this one for hatchlings.... Cut a 2 liter soda bottle a little bit less than in half. Fill with hot tap water and place in the microwave for approx. 2.5 mins or until very very hot to the touch (NOT SACLDING- You don't want a boiled rat). Place rat straight into the water-no baggy. Allow to thaw near the enclosure for about 10 minutes or so or until squishy( the steam rising will pre-scent. If you need to reheat the water a bit, do so. Remove the rat with tongs/hemos and present the rat a few inches from the snake , include a lil zombie jive if needed. Typically this works for my stubborn hatchlings, I convert them after the 1st or 2nd meal.

The Snake Keeper has a great DVD on how to force feed hatchlings.

If shes that small, keep her on live and get some size on her. You don't want her to have feeding issues at this size. You can scare a baby and make her a finicky eater if you keep forcing F/T on her. Get her well established, then switch over.:gj:
