Does your bp prefer a specific color rat??
Is it true that certain snakes prefer certain colors of rats? For some reason I feel like my picky eater will eat the white rats but ignores the black rats... Is it true that they can prefer specifics? or did the local petstore make it up?

My ball won't eat black rat's(racist), but I can usually trick him by putting it in the back of his hide. ~Caylan.S.~

You would think, but it happens too frequently to deny. Lelu will NOT eat anything other than a pure white rodent. This isn't something that is "true most of the time," it is 100% accurate. Never, not once, has she taken a rodent with a speck of black on it in the almost two years I have owned her. They always get pawned off on the others.

My snake does not believe in affirmative action, She does not prejudge and she is an Equal Opportunity eater. She has a dream, that one day rats will live in a habitat where they will not be judged by the color of their coat, but by the protein content of their character. We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all rats are created equal.
Rat Power!

Thankfully both ball pythons I feed take any color rat. So far they've eaten white, black/white, and gray with no problems.

HAHAHAHAHA!
None of mine have shown any color preference so far, be it mice or rats. I'm guessing it's only a matter of time, though.

For a while, Cleo would only eat Latte rats (cream colored). I think she's becoming less picky, because she likes white chocolate (albinos) from time to time as well.
What can I say? She's my princess. But it was pretty funny when I told the guy at the reptile house that I needed a cream colored one, and not any other kind. His face was priceless...

When my bp was on aspen, he would only eat dark-colored rats because I guess he could see them better against the aspen. I feed any and every color with him on newspaper.
