Are All Genetic BlackBack, BlackBack And BlackPastels The Same?
Re: Are All Genetic BlackBack, BlackBack And BlackPastels The Same?
The short answer is no.
Blackpastels are (as I, and some others believe) are a seperate, much darker line of Cinnies.
Blackblacks, as I have heard, are from het red axanthics. I've also heard them as thier own line of animals. Blackbacks are confusing because the CAN be het reds, or black pastels, or even normals, and each one of those can behave differently with another morph.
Re: Are All Genetic BlackBack, BlackBack And BlackPastels The Same?
No, they are not. Genetic Black Backs are Black Backs that are genetically reproducable. The Black Back trait can also be a random occurance. These are just a variation of Normal Ball Pythons. Black Pastel is a completely different morph. The Super Black Pastel is an all black/brown animal with a white belly. Black Pastels and Cinnamons (which are allelic to Black Pastels) will sometimes express the "Black Back" trait, but they are their own individual morph. Black Pastels and Cinnamons are not defined by having Black Backs. Like all Ball Pythons, it's just a variation in their pattern. For example, there are Pastels with reduced patterns and Pastels with extremely busy patterns. Both are still Pastels, but their patterns differ. Genetic Black Back aren't just random occurances, but are genetic (I would assume that they are a dominant trait). They may enhance the look of morphs (like Black Pastels or Cinnamons), but aren't as "popular" as morphs like Spiders since the "Black Back" trait can occur randomly and not be genetic.
Hopefully that makes sense.
