    Did I do something bad?
I bought my first ball python an 09 Pastel a few weeks ago and I tried feeding her but she would not eat. No biggie I thought she is just getting used to her new home. A few days ago I saw her and she looked like she was going into shed. Well today when I saw her she had a piece of her shed coming off her snout (looked like the beginning of her shed but it was in pieces. So I thought she was having a bad shed as it was the only piece of shed that I could see. I took her put and put her in a tub of warm water and then took a towel that I had soaked in warm water and took off the piece of shed. So I guess I'm asking if I screwed up?

Tank is a 10 gallon , temp on cool side is 78 and temp on hot side is 84, substrate is newspaper, I have 2 hides one on the cool side and one one the hot side. I'm using corallife digital thermostats to measure the temps and She is an 09 Pastel.

bump that hot side temp up a bit to around 90. Also bump your humidity up via spraying the tank once a day while the snake is going into shed. That should do the trick.

What do you use to heat? If you have screen top thats not covered and a heat lamp you will probably have to spray even more. My screen top is covered and I still have to spray mulitiple times a day. I dont mind but I like having the light on during the day. Usually with the light on after i spray it gets to like 45, when the lights are off it easily gets to 50% or around there and stays all night.

I have a screen lid and was thinking of using foil to cover up half the lid, would that raise my humidiyu?

I have about 3/4 of my lid covered with foil. It doesnt really raise humidity it just helps hold it in. Eventually it will still go down.

Not sure if you are measuring the humidity....it should be around 65%. And as the other person stated you should have your cool side in the 80's and the warm in the 90's.

You are using a tank ....so do I and humidity seems to always be an issue with me. Someone suggested to me to (and it works wonders I might add) to cover the screen part of the top with aluminum foil. This will help keep the humidity up a bit. Also I put the water dish on the warm side to bump up the humidity.

When your snake goes into shed you can also do a humid hide. Which is just a hide with some moist moss in it.

Remember to check the humidity level often and mist as needed.

Ok that is about all I know......there are some ppl on here that know TONS more than I do and can make some more suggestions.

    Good luck to you...
