    Eggs at day 57...
So, my eggs are at day 57 right now and have dimpled a lot. The question I have is; when candling the eggs right now shouldn't I see the snake inside? As of right now I can see that something is inside but I can't see the pattern that some people talk about. Should I cut the eggs? This my first clutch and am unsure what to do. Your help is appreciated.

At 57 days the animals should be 3 days from hatching so yes you should be able to see them in the egg. You should have been able to see them weeks ago. I would clip if they were mine but only if you are comfortable with the process. Unless you have not been using the right temps...

I'm sorry I should have included the temps. They have been right around 88 give or take a degree.

Also what were you paring. Are you perhaps seeing an animal with little pattern like a spider???

Once the eggs start to "collapse" it's due to the clear amniotic fluid evaporating through the egg shell. Because of this there is less space between the snake an the egg..this makes escaping the egg easier and also gives the snake more room to grow. See as the snake grows if the egg doesn't lose some of that fluid the baby would burst the egg or get crushed due to the pressure inside.

I normally can't candle the egg's once they start to dimple because there is very little fluid to illuminate the baby inside..

No worries..be on the look out for heads..

It was a normal to normal pairing. The female has a nice reduced pattern though. I could swear I have seen the head of one(I seen the eyes and silouette of the head).

I will have to bow to the Frog. He has candled far more than I have. So, i would have to say you are probably O.K.

You cant always see the snakes because the amniotic fluid is pretty thick and if you just candle from on top you wont be able to see them. No worries. If the snakes cant pip wouldnt that be an evolutionary flaw? Im just wondering....
