    Snake smuggler
Norwegian accused of skin-crawling snake smuggling

A man has been arrested in Norway trying to smuggle two dozen snakes and geckos into the country by hiding them under his clothes. Customs agent Helge Breilid said Monday the 22-year-old Norwegian citizen was apprehended in the southern town of Kristiansand after getting off a ferry from Hirtshals, Denmark. He said the man had 14 royal pythons and 10 albino leopard geckos under his clothes.

Breilid said the non-venomous snakes - the smallest species in the python family - were hidden in stockings duct-taped to the man's abdomen. The geckos were in boxes taped to his thighs.

Customs officials found the reptiles, which are not endangered, Sunday during a search following the discovery of a tarantula in one of the man's bags.

Wow, he duct taped the snakes to himself?? That's crazy. Down here maybe a few years ago or so (don't remember) there was 15 alligators in a trailer or something and someone was keeping them illegally so when they found this trailer of alligators they took them over to the Phoenix Herpetological Society and are still there.

Man arrested for carrying 25 reptiles‎
Kristiansand Customs officials in Norway have arrested a man for carrying 25 reptiles in his bag and taped to his body.

The 22-year-old was caught with a tarantula in his bag, 14 royal pythons taped around his torso and 10 albino leopard geckos tied to his legs.

The man was stopped in a routine customs check upon arriving from Denmark on a ferry, newspaper Faedrelandsvennen reported.

A full body search revealed 14 stockings around the man's torso, each containing a snake.

"Customs officers quickly realized the man was smuggling animals, because his whole body was in constant motion," Kristiansand customs office manager Helge Breilid told the VG daily.

The officers found the lizards in 10 cans taped to the man's legs.

The reptiles were handed over to a security firm and the man would be released upon paying a $2,256 fine.

Reptile smuggling is very common in Norway, where people are legally banned from keeping many reptile species as pets, Reuters reported.

Well, at least they were in socks and not literally taped to his body. And although they got it wrong that they are the smallest species of python, at least they sound less threatening that way.

...lol maybe he should have worn more layers...
