    Shedding!
So, we just adopted Data about two weeks ago - and he shed today! I was off work, so my partner and I were lucky enough to be able to watch his first shed with us. He's my first snake, so I was pretty stoked.

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...tashedding.jpg Here he is in his temporary hide - he came with one, so we cut up a box so he'd have one on both the hot and cool side. The skin is right behind his head at this point.

And here's my partner holding the shed skin - all in one piece! We measured it to finally get a real length on him, and he's nearly 3 ft.

    After shed!

It's awesome to watch them shed, isn't it! He's a handsom little man! ^_^

And just a heads up, the shed skin streaches when they shed, so you can measure it, but it's going to acutally be a good bit bigger than he actually is. If the shed measures 3 ft, you might assume he's a bit over 2.5ft. It's nice to get an estimate though!

Ah, that makes sense! Because that was longer than we'd thought....but yeah, getting him to lay straight for measuring isn't happening, so it's a good estimate. :-P

the only measurements i keep are weights, but length would be interesting too.. even tho they dont get too long :weirdface

I find that using a "sewing" measure tape works wonders in measuring my snakes. If you don't know what I mean, it is a measuring tape that is highly flexible and softer than a normal styled measuring tape tool. Many people who sew use one because it makes measuring a whole lot easier. :D Plus it allows you to grapple the snake while having the tape pulled out, without fighting with it too. Just a thought. ;) Congrats on a very beautiful snake, Didgie. Also on a good shed.
