    Gold fish QuestionS **Please reply**
Hey everyone im usually in the BP section of this forum, but ive decided to venture into the exotic world of goldfish. Ive had fish before when i was little, but forgot most of the things..

    Heres my planned setup:

    -10 gallon tank
    -Whisper EX power filter
    -whisper air pump and stone
-Some decorations(plants, gravel, and some kind of house thing like a pirate ship lol)
    -Light
-I will be using tetra aquasafe as a water conditioner

So i still have a few questions..

I am probably going to have 4 or 5 fantail goldfish and a bottomfeeder, is that to many for a 10 gal?

How often do i have to clean the tank?

I think thats pretty much it... Hope someone has advice for me! Thanks!

That will be to many fish in your ten gallon tank :gj:.Normaly its 1 inch of fish per 1 gallon of water. So if your fish gets 3 inches when full grown he will need 3 gallons of water to himself to be happy.

That's not too many fish for a 10g, I had 8 gold fish and a loach in my 10g and they did just fine.

I normally changed the water when I noticed it starting to get cloudy or filthy. Especially when the sides of the enclosure started to form nasty gunk on it (fish crap? LOL). All of my fish did just fine, and I even had a gold fish that lasted 6 years that was originally supposed to be a feeder fish for these huge fish my mom used to have (Oscar fish).

    -EDIT-

Scratch that first part, I can't compete with Joey LOL. He's knows a ton of fish, but I just typed what I know from personal experience.

I change the filter in mine once a month and do a 20% water change monthly also.

Uumm yes it is.One thing most people do not realize is goldfish are very nasty little fish.I call them the rabbits of the water. It goes in one end(food) and constantly comes out the back.I bet you did not realize those little feeder goldfish can grow to 2ft long did you?

Tiffany no reason to compete here :gj:.When i was around your age i was into fish just like i am about reptiles now.I researched tons of stuff then and was just sharing my experiances here. Its sad how many pet stores will over sell someone just to make a buck :(.Your fish might have lived for awhile but did they reach thier full size of which they should have?

Well the feeder gold fish I saved from the Oscar fish tank was probably an inch or so long and I had it for 6 years and it only got like 6 inches or so LOL.
