Strange Feeding Behavior

I just finished feeding my male bp, he is about 2 feet long. I feed him a f/t adult mouse every 7 days. Today he struck at the mouse and constricted around it and then just left it alone. I picked the mouse up with the feeding tongs to try again. Instead of striking at the mouse he opened his mouth and just started to eat it. Has this ever happened to anyone before?

Most of my balls hit/constrict/swallow, if temp is off or they detect cool spot they drop it, then I select another immediately. I have seen this behavior on my boas only on F/T F/K he attacks like no tomorrow.

I give my snakes a while to eat their prey, sometimes i just leave the rodent (f/t) in there over night and either its gone by morning or its not and depending on the condition ill offer it to someone else. every once in a while ill pick up a rat thats been dropped by one of them and re-heat it and get the same response. My carpet wouldn't even bother to constrict for the first couple of feedings.
