    my 100% het axanthic female has a problem... help!
    So I got my female a couple days ago. she's a baby pretty much but i've notice something is wrong. Her skin looks like it folds. Dont kno if it's from weight loss or something. Picture one shows that. 2nd thing I noticed was that above her "belly button" I could feel like a ball or something hard in it. 2nd pic show's that. Can some one help?

    Hi,

    Can we get some profile pictures to see if the ribs are deformed?

    I had something similar and so did another member;

    Thread 1.

    Thread 2.

    Hi,

    When you get the pictures also send them to the person you bought it off.

    I wouldn't do it in an accusing way just politely say you have noticed this and are worried and concerned. It's entirely possible they didn't notice, or even that it has happened since it was shipped.

    My little guy somehow managed to do that to himself overnight in a hatchling tub containing nothing more than a waterbowl and a light plastic hide.

    Basically get as much advice and information about it beforehand and give the seller a chance to make it right if it was an existing condition. Mistakes happen and problems arise - it's how people choose to respond to them that counts in the long run.

    It could be the skin folds are caused by him taking a poop and looking deflated and the small lump you can feel is a urate or it could be the "hardbelly" condition described in the kev McCurley book.

    The pictures from all angles should let more people weigh in on what it could be.

    Can't tell much from those pics, but I would soak it in some luke warm water for a few hours. May just be dehydrated. Is it a new hatchling?

    I have seen these folds in young snakes that are underweight and/ or dehydrated. A few good meals and she should fill out.

    Can't really say anything about the bump, except that it appears you had rice for dinner....A better pic would help. ;) If it is close to the umbilical scar (belly button), I would be a little concerned about an abscess, but that is not something one can diagnose from a picture.

    You got her a couple days ago, right? Could take her a while to settle in and want to eat. Once you get better pics of the bump, I'd back off and not handle her for a week and let her chill in her new home. Then try feeding her again. Do you know what she was eating in her last home (mice v. rats, FT v. live)?

    I assume you're keeping her warm and giving her a snug hiding spot?
