i have a dilemma on one of my job sites. the plumbers are preparing to cut out some old floor drains in the second level underground parking lot. they sent in a camera to inspect the pipe and got a surprise.
the pipe is two feet under ground,aprox. 20 feet long and ends into a four foot square box reservoir. i should add that the pipe is four inches in diameter and dry as it is no longer in use.
when they sent the camera in they found a snake that tried to attack it.
i saw the video footage and believe it may be an adult carpet or small Burmese. the footage was of poor quality so it was hard to tell. it did however appear to be over six feet long, closer to eight.
their insurance does not cover snake bites and need to remove the it before they can continue to work. i wish to extract it humanely but am at wits end on how to coxed it to come out so that i can bag it.
so far i tried setting up a rat in a cage near the entrance of the hole and used a fan heater to blow its sent down the hole but nothing happened. i even went as far as tethering a string on the rat and sent it in the hole to hopefully get it close enough to tease the snake and even still nothing.
i am waiting for them to bring the camera back to see if the snake is even there still. we believe it is as there is no where for it to go from there unless it can clime strait up the inside of a four inch pipe aprox. 15 to twenty feet to get out.
if anyone has any ideas it would be very much appreciated.
i also know that there has been various pet stores upstairs so the snake could be of any species. it does not look like a local one.
once i get a copy of the video i will try to post it or email it to whoever would like to see it.
ps. no rats were harmed during the night. and they were set free when i was done.
