How to clean/treat a bite wound on a BP?
Can I use hydrogen peroxide on a bite wound on my ball python? This is the first time she's ever been bitten by a feeder in the 3 years Ive had her. It's a very very small (maybe 1/10 of an inch long) cut, not deep, not bleeding, but I want to clean it as well as I can without traumatizing her. I've used neosporin already but I'd feel better knowing that it's really clean.

(also for anyone wondering why I feed live, there are two reasons. One, this particular snake refuses to eat f/t and I feel the long periods of not eating would be more harmful than the occasional nip, and I'm too big of a wimp to kill rats myself. Two, my family hates having frozen rodents in the freezer with our food. :-/ )

Hydrogen peroxide opens wounds up. It is H2O2 with the second oxygen being "super bonded"... it is for cleaning wounds with dirt and debris in them. If you want a wound to heal "cleanly" do not use it.

A bit of neosporin WITHOUT pain killers is all you need.

We feed what works for the keeper and the snake, no reason to worry about justifying what you do. Snakes that eat live take nips on occasion...

also peroxide will dry out the area hence leaving more of a chance for scarring! This goes for humans as well.
