Dragon--Painted! (Almost done, lol)
Well, here draggie is...finally got around to (mostly) finishing the paint job. I added teeth and proper claws. All that's left to be done is some finishing details, a few touch-ups, painting the rest of the claws, and putting some sort of sealant on it. Not entirely sure what to seal it with yet, but...
Anyways. Pictures! (Pardon how many there are...I was playing with the focus and stuff on my camera a bit, and the lighting...I really should make a light box...)

And...that's all! I've been so lazy about working on this thing...

I just love the raised scales, those are fantastic.
Re: Dragon--Painted! (Almost done, lol)
That is Awesome. How did you make it and out of what?
I would use some kind of clear paint like krylon fusion or something.

It's made out of a base of heavy wire mesh as an armature, with a 'skin' of aluminum, overlaid with a base of air-dry clay, which then had the scales hand made and put on, starting from the tail and working forward. I then used a clear glue as a sort of sealant, and painted it.
Does Krylon fusion dry clear and non-tacky?
Re: Dragon--Painted! (Almost done, lol)
Just as a suggestion, I would make another piece, nothing in particular, but same materials and paint, and test whatever sealant you are going to use. I made the mistake of not doing that before.....sprayed it on, and it peeled the paint off!!! Words can not describe....
The dragon is awesome though! The raised scales really make it. :gj:

That is actually a REALLY good idea. Thanks for the suggestion! What was it that peeled off the paint? I can't imagine how that must have felt! :(
Thanks! I did the raised scales thinking of a cat with its back up...all grumpy, lol.
