40 gal horozontal to vertical tank conversion
has anyone done this before? I am wanting to convert my standard tank to a vertical tank for my crested geckos. I also want some kind of climbing furniture setup along with misting... Main issue I am trying to resolve right now is the lid for a front door
Re: 40 gal horozontal to vertical tank conversion
Due to my inability to be patient and also my flaw of constantly trying to engineer this in my head, I have figured out how I am going to do this. I will be putting together a LOT of photos throughout the process. Stay tuned.

It's actually almost done. I've spent maybe 2 hours in construction of it, if even. I may have it completed tomorrow. Latching is the last part I have to design really. All that's left is putting on hinges and latches.

Okay, spent a total of around 2 hours, maybe 3. I have to get ready for work shortly so a materials list will come later.

Had the idea to silicon this into the wall for climbing height

Yeah... Should have let that cure

Here is my custom screen for the top/ventilation. Skipped the picture that I had with just the bottom plexiglass on because you cant really see it.

He typically will hide between a couple leafs, I'm getting more cage furniture after I'm off work tonight.

Cages are often a work in progress :D It's looking great! As you mentioned before, adding stuff for vertical hight is great. I have fallen in love with magnetic vines, like the ones offered here:

With some neodynium magnets and a trip to wal-mart you can make your own magnetic climbing structures easily. I like them because they are non-permanent for cleaning purposes, and it's easy to place them how you like.
If you were to make your own, I would suggest putting a layer of soft plastic material (lots of options, silicone obviously is one) over the magnet to provide some friction to prevent the magnets from sliding down the glass sides.
Re: 40 gal horozontal to vertical tank conversion
Thanks for the great idea on the magnetic climbing spots! May have to do some more DIY there c:

thats a pretty nice setup. if you go online to www.dendroboard.com (it is a dart frog forum) they have some REALLY bad*** vertical setups on there you should check um out.
