Too much humidity?

I made the decision to take my normal out of his glass tank in favor of a tub. I did this because it was impossible to get any humidity to stay in the tank. I am concerned because the humidity in the tub has been 80-85%. I put more holes in the tub to try to bring it down, but no luck. I know it will go down gradually, but am I doing any harm to the snake with it that high? Any thoughts would be helpful! Thanks!

I had the same problem when I moved mine from tanks to tubs. All I did was set-up a small oscillating fan to circulate the air across the tub from the side instead of the ceiling fan I had been using with the tanks. You may have to experiment a little till you find the right spot and speed for the fan. I basically have 2 fans blowing across 3 tubs. If I need to bring the humidity down, I put the fan on a higher speed. If I need more humidity I will put the fans on a slower speed. When one of my snakes goes into shed I simply move the fan so it doesn't blow on that tank. Hope this helps...

humidity that high for a short period should not harm the snake.

What substrate are you using?

You could try drilling holes in the top of the tub if it is a stand alone tub.

How many holes have you made? My tubs have around 200 and the humidity does go down.

I have aspen substrate and I do have holes in the top. I have 3 rows of small holes around each side of the tub. I'll try making more.

i had this problem so eventually i just went with paper towels as substrate and now my levels are perfect and cleanup is way easier.

I tried adding more holes and making the exising ones larger - didn't help at all. So I took out the moist aspen and took your advice with the paper towels. We'll see how this goes. The funny thing about it, my other tub holding my baby mojave is perfect 65% humidity. I'll let you know how it goes.
